Can I refrigerate whey protein if it’s mixed with water?

I’m about to start whey protein powder, and it takes me a while to get to and from my gym – I’d also like my protein shakes to be as cool as possible.

Here’s what I plan on doing:

Mixing my 30g of whey protein with 200ml of water the night before I go gym;
Refrigerate the shake for 10-12 hours (can work with less refrigeration time);
Take the shake to the gym with me, cooled, and drink it after completing my workout.

Will refrigerating the whey/water combination affect the potency of the shake, or will there be little/no difference? Thanks!

    It doesn’t go bad when premixed, nor does it need to be kept refergerated.
    it’s not “dairy” anymore. You can use it in pretty much anything.

    However – drinking it the night before will give you zero benefits in the AM. Whey is a fast acting “short” protein. It doesn’t “store” like vitamins. It’s use it – or lose it. Basically you pee out unused nutrients 2-3 hours after it’s consumed, storing the calories as body fat.

    If you want a LONG protein, try egg or casein. These take 8-12 hours to metabolize.
