Should a 14 year old drink protein shakes?

I’m not getting enough protein in my diet so is it safe to drink protein shakes before and after a workout? Does it stunt my growth or anything bad? Thanks a lot!!!
I want to gain muscle mass and I don’t eat a lot of meats so that’s why I need the protein.

I’m wondering if protein shakes such as the GNC brand is appropriate for a 15 year old teenage to use, I’ve heard that too much protein could “punch holes in your kidney”? is that true?

    No one should drink protein shakes. Chemicals and calories and nonsense.

    Who says you aren’t getting enough protein? You can easily get it from food…and it’s better to eat protein than to get it any other way.

    it should be fine i think things stunting your groth is a mith im 14 and i use to drink pop every day at least one can every day till i was 8 and i drink coffie now to and im probubly 5 foot 9 some where around there so it should be fine

    I wouldn’t drink 2, before and after. You don’t want to overdo the protein in your diet, especially if you’re eating animal products. If you’re a vegetarian, that’s another story. But just one shake after the workout , I don’t see why it wouldn’t be safe, as long as you’re still keeping a balanced diet of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.

    it is never a bad thing to consume proteing no matter how old you are as long as you are over the age of 11. you didnt list your reasons for consuming protein so i dont know if you want to bulk up with muscle, or just gain weight. call your local health supplement store and talk with them over the phone and theyll help you decide if protein is the right thing for your situation.. theres also different kinds of proteing thatll do different things to your body which you may have to bring into concern. ask them about your carb levels because being young, you also want to take that into consideration because your body is still growing…

    Listen, drinking a protein shake is about 10 times healthier than drinking a glass of coke.
    Stunting growth? Protein shakes mainly contain calories, protein and carbs, last time I heard, those nutrients help with growth… Drink it all you want, kid, absolutely nothing will happen other than you growing. If you’re skinny and want to bulk up, then you should drink a weight-gainer shake.

    You would have to eat/drink a rediculous amount of protein for it to damage your body.

    he/you will be fine to drink protein at 15. just don’t drink 8 drinks in one day… then you could start having some issues. only have one drink or bar a day

    LOL, that’s a new one. Protein powders are dried up food. Nothing more. They don’t cause muscles to appear. They don’t directly aid in weight loss. They don’t cause health problems. No different than eating a hardboiled egg, some yogurt and a glass of milk.
